Super Tuesday has ended and we must get out the vote early next week in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia. In the meantime, the pundits have put every conceivable spin on the great victory of Senator Obama, but if you want to read the facts, check out what I just received from our local coordinator.
"WHAT A NIGHT! You're going to hear a lot of muddled information, mis-information, slow information and extremely conservative information from the media this morning.
The big news that you will hear shortly is that Barack Obama won more states, more delegates and possibly more popular votes in yesterday's primary.
We should have more final delegate counts by this afternoon, but the news is HUGE for Barack and for the future of the country.
Senator Obama won 13 states (New Mexico is still too close to call). Obama won Alabama, Alaska, Missouri, Colorado, Idaho, Minnesota, Connecticut, N. Dakota, Utah, Kansas, Delaware, Illinois and Georgia.
Obama overcame double-digit leads by Sen Clinton in 8 of the 10 largest states.
Obama won Red States by a margin of more than two-to-one.
Obama won his home state by 67 delegates (110-43; 153 total). Clinton won her home state by 52 delegates (142-90; 232 total).
Barack performed especially well in those states he visited in recent weeks, further proof that the more voters get to know him and hear his message, the more they support him. This bodes VERY well for the contests coming in the next few weeks where Sen Obama will have more time to campaign aggressively.
Of the seven caucus states decided last night, Obama won six (New Mexico is still undeclared--10 vote separation by last count).
Barack won the support of americans of every race and gender in every region of the country. From Hillary's backyard in Connecticut to Georgia, where Obama won nearly 40% of the white vote and eliminated the gender gap by winning 64% of the women's vote, Obama demonstrated that he's the one candidate who can transform the electoral map and why he is the Democrat who's most likely to win in November.
Our job now is to continue to provide the resources for this extraordinary campaign to go the distance. It is because of you that Sen Obama can fully compete against the most powerful political machine in the country. Please help him by increasing your donation, calling someone who may be on the fence, contacting friends in other states and asking for the order."
